RAIN CLOUDS.

Finally, the weekend is here and TGIF as people say.

Here's a short story that will run through out this weekend, from Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It's something I can relate with.

It's quite interesting, so enjoy it and share with your friends.
Susan crossed her legs and dusted the dust on her skirt and chocolate skin.  She had spent almost three hours in the office waiting for an interview that was supposed to take place two hours ago.

This was her umpteenth interview this year and to be candid, she was on the verge of giving up.

Her cousin Tejiri had told her she wished her looks were as perfect as her IQ which was good enough to fetch her a mouth-watering job. Susan’s only problem was that her nerves wasn’t her best friend and it had cost her a lot of job opportunities.

She was tired of it all. Now she knew why her father complained a lot when she was younger.

“Daddy, our teacher said we should bring money for maths set when we’re coming to school tomorrow and...”

Her father went irate. “Is that your school a task master? Everyday bring this money or that money, if it isn’t money for broom today, then it will be money for eraser. Ah ah, What kind of people are they?”

“But daddy” said Susan “everybody in my class has paid. Why must I always be the last to...”

She was the exact picture of her father but he always seemed to go black like amala when he was angry; he replied her saying, “My friend would you shut up and get out of my sight, don’t worry you will soon grow up and start making money too”.

Now she saw what he meant and she was determined to make sure she made more than enough so she could take care of him. He had type 2 diabetes and it had eaten up his spare part business.

“Miss Williams” said the receptionist, “it’s your turn for the interview, walk down the corridor, turn right at the end and enter the first office by your right”.

Shoving aside her thought, she got up and walked briskly into the office. She met a fair, tall and slim man making a phone call.  She always pictured all the “oga’s at the top to be old with grey hair and a spare tire at the tummy.

This particular oga looked trim and fit like he was in his mid-30’s but looking at the other side of his palm, she could swear he was already 40.

He directed her to a chair where she was to seat. She composed herself as she sat and mumbled a quick prayer.

“You’re Susan Williams right?” he asked as he put his phone on the glass table in front of her while as he held his pulled his pants up lightly and sat down.

“Yes sir”

I’m John, John Iyoha and let’s get straight to business; I’m not a fan of long interviews so tell me what’s different about you that can make me listen to you for 2 minutes and not get bored.”

She blanked out and started coughing. He offered her water and she anxiously gulped down a quarter of the glass after which she resumed coughing. She spew out the water on his face and  the documents in front of the her.

All she heard was a deafening silence.

“Well, this has been an erm...unforgettable 2 minutes. Thank you for coming Miss Williams”.

Susan was downcast. She couldn’t believe she lost an opportunity to work in one of the country’s leading advertising agency.

“Sir, please I’m very sorry, please give me another chance.”

I’m afraid I can’t. You know you should have had this interview about 3 hours ago but I had an emergency meeting. I told them to give me 10 minutes so I could see you and have lunch. I’ve spent close to 6 minutes already, so if you’ll excuse me, my lunch is already cold.”

She walked through the quiet and long corridor as her eyes grew misty. The traffic on her way home was equally as depressing. When she got home, it was almost 9 o’ clock. Glad her cousin wasn’t back to trouble her with questions, she took a cold shower and went to bed.

About half an hour later, her phone woke her up and she angrily said “Hello”

“Miss Williams, its John Iyoha. Were you sleeping?”

It was as if Usain Bolt ran away with the sleep. “not at all sir, I’m just lying down” she lied.

“Can you come back to the office tomorrow at 12 tomorrow afternoon? It appears luck is on your side” said John.  “That’s if it’s convenient since it’s a Saturday”.

“No problem sir, I’m very grateful”

Little did she know her life was about to change forever.
