BEAUTY FOR THE BEERHOLDER.

I was watching a Nigerian comedy show and as usual there was this talk of a ‘wowo’ girl. Wowo is a Nigerian slang for ugly.

Something deep within me resented this word. Comedians have constantly painted different pictures of women, describing some as ‘wowo’ and others as fine girl.

This particular guy said it was a blind date but when he met the lady she was muscular and he used Mayweather as a symbol of her arms. He gave a funny description of how she walked as if she had boil on her laps.

Has anyone noticed how all the young ladies are light complexioned these days? I’m wondering what happened to the beauty of the dark skin.

I think our musical artistes also contributed to this as they also sang about fair complexioned ladies as the pretty ones.

But if only the fair ladies are the beautiful ones how come people can’t quantify the love they have for their mothers who are dark skinned and aged?

Pause and think about this!

Let’s face the fact: we need a new definition for beauty.

Ask men who married the most attractive looking wives and women who did the same, I mean women who married the TDH (tall, dark and handsome): how you look is not a description of your character or virtues.

She may be someone who will nag you from heaven to hell and back to earth meanwhile, he may be a wife beater with fists or words.

Beauty they say lies in the hand of the beer holder, when the effect of the wine has disappeared then you face reality.

Beer in this sense is whatever you believe in.

If you’re light skinned, I really don’t have anything against you. I’m simply attacking a quiet, dangerously growing and soon-to-be-accepted social norm.

We need a redefinition for beauty.

  1. Thank God someone is finally talking. you don't need to bleach to be fine.

  2. Society and culture is changing pretty fast. We want things to be in our favour so we do the things the way we want and preach it as the gospel truth. That's what our comedians and artistes are doing. this is destroying this present generation. you don't have to be yellow to be beautiful.
